Ryan on the Runway: PR22 ep 4

Ugh, the recap from the previous episode was hard to watch. I hate to see tough girl Bobby being a weepy mess.

Chloe was sent home. Bless her Mormon heart, being grateful for the opportunity. Jeffrey was saved, which brought it down to Andriy and Bobby. Whoa, Bobby was saved and Andriy was sent home. That was a surprise. In the early days of PR they used to do a clear-cut litmus test: which dress would you rather wear, if you had to choose one? In that case Andriy would be the winner and Bobby would be sent home. But clearly the judges were looking at what makes a leader and they felt that was a bigger failure. I hope this lights a fire under Bobby and inspires her to always do her best.

The challenge was connected to Humane World for Animals. Hm, why not. The designers need to make a look inspired by a particular animal and using cruelty-free materials not made from animal products. "But I can still use leather and fur, right?" LOL.

And oo, the judging will be done head to head, one person will be the winner in the pair and the other the loser. Heidi pulled names out of the button bag and that designer got to choose who they wanted to be pitted against. Knives out, baby! Here's how it went down - - I'll list the button bag designer first and then the designer they chose as their opponent. The second designer was asked to choose an animal:

Aaron vs Anna (lion)

Jeffrey vs Naheim (shark)

Joseph McRae vs Bryan (macaw)

Bi vs Jude (wolf)

Elizabeth vs Bobby (mustang)

Their models are five guests from the Hulusphere. Each model will wear both looks. The winner will get a trip to the Great Bear Rainforest. Never heard of that but woo hoo.

The models were brought into the workroom. The first three were Huluhobies who I never heard of, no surprise there. The next was Veejay, who of course I remember from the previous season but ha ha, I had no memory that she was the WINNER! This is a sign that this show has been going on too long. Or that I care less. Or that I have better things to think about. Or that I'm approaching sixty.

The fifth model was supposed to be another Huluhobie who I never heard of but she had to pull out so instead they got...the recently auf'd Chloe! And this was really and truly one of the funniest things I've ever seen on this show - - they showed video footage of Chloe being asked to do this.

PRODUCER: OK, if you have a chance to be a model in this next challenge, would you do it?

[longish pause]

CHLOE: Me?

Her geniune surprise totally killed me.

On to the runway! The guest judge was...Heidi!

Naheim: totally shark.

Jeffrey: sexy but not particularly distinctive. Film noir femme fatale, but that wasn't the challenge.

Anna: dull and not flattering.

Aaron: ditto! They were both bad.

Joseph McRae: I loved it.

Bryan: not cool, quite tacky.

Bi: bulky and bad.

Jude: sharp, perfectly cut, wearable but fab.

Bobby: nice movement on the skirt but the outfit is not good.

Elizabeth: milk chocolate gown. Again, not the challenge.

The judges did something different - - they did live voting. They had paddles that revealed who they wanted to be on top and on the bottom. These are the winners:

Anna: three votes.

Jude: three votes.

Joseph: three votes.

Bobby: two votes.

Naheim: two votes.

Anna and Jude were the top two. Joseph had immunity so Law felt he could school him on something. He explained that the judges shouldn't know until their deliberation which looks were made by which designers. Joseph was wearing the same fabric as the dress he made so that was a dead giveaway. Law told him to never do that again, he used the word "arrogant."

I was surprised that they liked Anna's look so much. No surprise that they liked Jude's look so much, it was killer. Of course he was the winner. I was happy for him.

Aaron, Bi, and Bryan were on the bottom, they all were unanimously on the bottom in the head-to-head.

Bryan: Heidi referred to the yellow extra piece as a "ruched worm." Ha! Bryan started explaining his inspiration and process and Law and Tyra stopped him at the word "wearability." "Um what? You think this is wearable?"

Aaron: ouch, Law used the word "distgusting." Aaron explained he had to do a big pivot with the change of model but Heidi made the valid point that Anna had the same issue, yet her outfit was good (according to them).

Bi: Tyra was offended that the fit flattened her boobs. Law thought it looked like a maxi pad, "for the heavier days."
