My brother Howard alerted me to the death of Tom Skerritt (age 93). He’s best remembered for Top Gun and Picket Fences but the first title that sprang to my mind was The Turning Point! I need to see it again, ASAP! And let’s not forget he was also in M.A.S.H. and played the ship’s captain in Alien. Spoiler alert!

My mom, my brother Howard, and I went to Germany and the Netherlands in 2008. We spent quite a lot of time with our Dutch cousins. My cousin Sanne was a teenage girl at the time and was crazy for a Dutch pop singer named Wouter Hamel. She burned me a copy of his CD and soon I was crazy for him, too. His song "Breezy" peaked at 40 in the Netherlands (please don't call it "Holland") and 36 in Japan. Leave it to the Japanese to value a cute blond boy singing a breezy pop song. T
