R'Bonney, Plane Jane, and Robby were all sent home. Fascinating that the two Drag Race alums were both sent home. Robby infuriated me by saying in his interview that the piece he showed wasn't good enough and he wanted to show the judges that he could do better. Um, you had your chance! What did you think this was?

I have to admit that my fortune-telling powers were off on this one! I was sure that Robby and Plane Jane would be in it for the long haul, that the producers had cast them expecting the fur to fly. Clearly not when they were eliminated in the first episode!

The new challenge - - a Redemption look. Whatever that means. And the six winners from the previous challenge all had immunity - - and of the ten remaining designers, FIVE of them were being sent home! Yowza. They also threw in a reality TV wrinkle: the six winners were being given the opportunity to save a designer from elimination.

Bryan and Bi had a lot of "Bi Was My Intern" drama. I think Bryan should record the single and then be done with it. We also got some backstory drama: a dead fiancé, an Olympic gold medal, two inspirational fathers, and (squish squish) the first dress she ever made, when she was ten years old. I know that these sorts of stories are essential to the brand but I'm a teensy bit over it..

Oh, big turn in the road. Christian brought back the six eliminated designers and shared that they would be voting with the six winning designers to decide on who would be saved. The plot thickens.

The guest judge is Ice Spice. Never heard of her.

Bryan: not inspiring.

Bobby: cool, distinctive.

Chloe: pretty bad.

Jude: gorge! He's so fab.

Elizabeth: very Alexander McQueen.

Andriy: I like it but the judges don't agree.

Jeffrey: the shoulders are a problem but the back is cool.

Octavius: impressive that he made three pieces but did he make them well?

Bi: very strong.

Joseph McRae: I like it, the model had it goin' on.

Bao: serious drama.

Anna: beautiful!

Dani: not a disaster but not good.

Aaron: ditto what I said above.

Yangyang: pretty but sloppy.

Naheim: kinda cool, a definite risk.

The top looks were:

Joseph! That'll show 'em. The judges liked that it was something different but still distinctively him.

Jeffrey? I didn't like his look at all, I thought the shoulders were horrid.

Anna. Such a lovely dress, Heidi and Law both wanted to have it.

I thought Anna would be the winner but it was Joseph! Talk about Redemption.

That leaves us with seven designers, five of whom were going home.

Octavius: the judges loved the coat and hated the suit. How did he not see that?

Dani: Law wasn't wild for the outfit but thought she really got derailed with the ballerina pump. Designers, you have to know the importance of accessories! Make or break, honey.

Bi: Heidi and Law both loved it but Law felt like the pants were a problem, they either should have been fuller or narrower. Ouch, Ice Spice said he was wrong to try to coast on being cutesie. "It's Project Runway, not Project Personality."

Naheim: it was Ice's favorite of the night. Tyra liked that it gave men permission to do something extra. Heidi and Law both thought it was much stronger without the goofy hat and yes, it looked so much better without the hat.

Bao: Ice Spice loved it. Law hated that he could see the seam in the back in the mesh inset. Good point! And the super narrow strips over the boobs made Heidi think of Borat's swimming togs!

Yangyang: Ice Spice used the word "tablecloth." The judges all thought it would have been much better with a lining, it was cheap to see the white underside of the fabric.

Aaron: Law thought it was important that an older, experienced designer was in the competition but thought it was unfortunate that this was what he showed them.

Naheim and Aaron were both saved. I thought that Bi's look was better executed than Aaron's - - but I like Aaron so much more so I'm thrilled that he was saved.

The jury of twelve had five minutes to make their decision. I was shocked that Bryan got teary defending Bi, who he trashed non stop in the workroom.

The elimination will be revealed in the next episode!
