Fabulous Friday: unlikely trios

YouTube is such a gift! Last week they suggested I watch this clip of "Sing For Your Supper." The unlikely trio is Roberta Peters (star of the Metropolitan Opera), Donna McKechnie (triple threat Tony winner for A Chorus Line) and Kaye Ballard (brassy belter and comedienne).
It made me think of this other unlikely trio: Joan Sutherland (star of the Met, Covent Garden, La Scala, etc), Dinah Shore (honey-voiced girl singer), and Ella Fitzgerald (jazz singer extraordinaire). What is that contraption on Sutherland's head.
And one final trio - - a trio of trios, did ya get that? Carol Burnett (wisecracking, rubber-faced belter), Chita Rivera (triple threat Broadway showstopper, two-time Tony winner), and Caterina Valente (polyglot pop singer) going all Morticia Addams on yer ass in this number. Don't miss the cameo by Boris Freaking Karloff!
