Fabulous Friday: "Close My Eyes Forever"

The other day I was reading a NY Times article about Ozzy Osbourne (it was a slow day at work). It mentioned his highest-charting hit, a duet with Lita Ford called "Close My Eyes Forever." It peaked at number 8.

I watched the official video on YouTube - - I don't think I'd ever heard it before and I have a few observations.

1. It's not a very good song. It's a paint-by-numbers power ballad. Yawn.

2. It's not what I would call a duet because they never sing together! That would have launched the song into orbit, in my opinion. I can totally hear the harmonies, and I bet the two of them would sound great wailing together.

3. I have almost no familiarity with Ozzy and watching this video I look at the hair, the grimace, and the wild eyes and all I can see is Spinal Tap! Clearly they lifted a lot of their brand from Ozzy.
