Diva/Mensch pair for Sept 10, 2025

The Best Musical Theater Album winner for 2015 was naturally Hamilton, one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. Unparalleled genius, storytelling on the highest level, thrilling diva energy all night long. One of the other nominees that year was a much more low-key show but also brilliant, Fun Home. Talk about delivering the mensch: it's an adaptation of the graphic novel memoir by Alison Bechdel and the Fun Home of the title is a funeral home!

Here's my favorite song in Hamilton - - the trumpets doing their commentary and whoa, the BANJO. Total diva move with the banjo, baby.

And my favorite song from Fun Home, "Ring of Keys." A total mensch move, to include a song in a Broadway musical in which a ten-year-old girl sees a lesbian in her small town diner and has a personal epiphany. Tricky needle to thread and I was flooded in tears both times I saw the show.
