Diva/Mensch pair for Nov 27, 2024

I don't think I've delved into the Country categories yet, a shameful omission at this late date. The 1974 winners for Best Country Song and Best Country Performance, Female make a nice pair:

Diva: "A Very Special Love Song," Charlie Rich

Mensch: "A Love Song," Anne Murray

I wasn't familiar with the Charlie Rich song so I brought it up on YouTube. I stopped it after 26 seconds, it was too damn rich! Bloated, overproduced, self-important. The Anne Murray song, on the other hand, is an utter delight - - warm, luscious, makes you feel good listening to it. Plus it sounds like Murray sang her own backup vocals. I love that, it makes me think of the divine Miss Mary Ford.
