Ho ho ho! It appears that my Christmas present is being able to feature the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in today's Diva/Mensch pair. Didn't that turn out well?
It got Album of the Year at the 1978 Grammys. I've always found it remarkable (bordering on puzzling) that the soundtrack had two recordings of the same song:
Diva: "More Than a Woman" by The Bee Gees
Mensch: "More Than a Woman" by Tavares
The Bee Gees recording is the diva because it's so slick and shiny. The Tavares recording has plenty of groove but somehow it's more approachable. Your dancing to their version is more vigorous - - The Bee Gees make you dance with more attitude, more duende.
