Diva/Mensch pair for Aug 28, 2024

The 1961 winners of Best Performance by a Vocal Group were Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross for High Flying. I went full tilt boogie nutso for them sometime around the turn of the century. I wasn't just gaga, I was goo goo ga ga.

One of my favorite tracks on High Flying is "Farmer's Market." Annie Ross wrote the words to a tune written and recorded by trumpet player Art Farmer so clearly she'd have the right to sing the song on the LHR album. But don't you think she'd at least get the guys to sing backup?
