We're now at 2012, closing in on the big finish of this movie theme. The winner of the Best Supporting Actor Oscar was Christoph Waltz as Dr. King Schultz in Django Unchained. An understated, rather lyrical performance, a lovely companion to his outsized, primo diva Oscar-winning performance of a couple years before in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. One of the other nominees that year was Philip Seymour Hoffman in The Master. A super creepy powerful manipulative performance. Exciting and unsettling.
