Don't you find it interesting when celebrity deaths come in clumps? In the past week we've had five guys die who had careers in rock or pop. Remarkable. I wouldn't recognize any of their names but (in most cases) recognize the names of the bands. BTW I've done quite a few CDAs à quatre but I think this is my first CDA à cinq...

Brad Arnold died at the age of 47. He was the founder and lead singer for 3 Doors Down.

Chuck Negron died at the age of 83. He was one of the singers in Three Dog Night. Great voice! He's the dude singing lead vocals in this song, in the blue satin shirt and the big moustache.

Billy Bass Nelson died at the age of 75. He was the original bassist for Funkadelic. Here's a nice tribute to him:

Fred Smith died at the age of 77. He was a bassist for Blondie and then left Blondie for Television. Read his NY Times obit if you can, Debbie Harry made some snarky comments about him leaving a band that had huge hits for a band that did not. But clearly he was interested in playing a different kind of music so he made the right choice for him. So there. This is certainly a different groove than Blondie - - I think I need to check them out!

And one last guy who didn't warrant a NY Times obit, Lamonte McLemore, who died at the age of 90. He was one of the singers in The Fifth Dimension. He's the tall drink of water. LOVE them.
