Hulk Hogan died the other day at the age of 71. I texted with my brother Howard, who had lived in Minneapolis for a number of years, and said I had just heard about the death of his former governor. He replied that he also sometimes confused Hulk Hogan with Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Oops! It was Ventura who was governor of Minnesota. My bad.

I found this top ten of Hogan's alleged greatest moments. I was only able to watch three, it's all so loud and so profoundly fake. The commentary is hilarious. I think The Wooster Group should do a reenactment of some pro wrestling matches, with the commentary included.

And I heard from both Howard and Stephanie about the death of Chuck Mangione (age 84). The NY Times called him a "hitmaker with a fluegelhorn." His song "Feels So Good" got up to number 4 on the Billboard charts in 1978, which I imagine was pretty unusual for an instrumental.

I found this live performance of the song from The Crystal Gayle Show (yeesh). Am I wrong thinking the backup band is better than he? Made me think of The Meters, the amazing funk band who played for LaBelle and lots of other acts.

BTW Chuck Mangione is no relation to assassin/heartthrob Luigi Mangione. I checked.

I'll throw you a bone:
