CDA: Wink Martindale

This was one of those classic CDA moments: "That dude was still alive...?" Wink Martindale died the other day at the age of 91. I grew up watching him as the host of Tic Tac Dough. I found this compilation of game shows that he hosted and lordy what a bizarre cultural form it is, the television game show. Here Comes the Mother-In-Laws is of particular interest to me. The note in the YouTube post says it was the pilot, which seems to imply that it didn't make it further than that. Not really a surprise.

Martindale has the slick smarminess and canned intonations of a television host. As if he were generated by AI, but of course that wasn't an option back then. Not that we KNOW. Just listen to the way he says, "Miss Carol Lawrence!" at 0:38. I want a GIF of that, of him saying, "Miss Carol Lawrence!" over and over.
