CDA: Priscilla Pointer

I read online last week about the death of actress Priscilla Pointer (age 100). She's a familiar face from TV and movies from the 80s but perhaps is just as well known for being the mother of Amy Irving. Here's Pointer in one of her most prominent roles, in Carrie. We see a bit of Irving at the end of this scene, they were mother and daughter in this movie.




Hm, it seems she made a specialty of playing the sensible woman opposite a scenery-chewing harridan. Here she is trying to stand her ground against Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest.
