I love that my brother Howard alerts me to the deaths of people of whom I've not heard. See how deftly I avoided ending that sentence with a preposition?

Nedra Talley Ross was a founding member and the last surviving member of The Ronettes. Ronnie Spector got all the press for that group and as lead singer I guess that makes sense but there were two other girls in the group! They might not have had as distinctive a voice as Spector, they might not have had the drive and the charisma, but they were essential to the group. Clearly the choice was made to make them a trio and not have Spector be a solo artist, there must have been a reason for that.

Spector and the other girl in the group, Estelle Bennett, were both cousins of Ross. Sweet. Here's a compilation of the trio performing on various TV shows. The wigs, the eyeliner, the choreography!
