My brother Howard alerted me to the death of Jane Goodall, age 91. Her obit in the NY Times is worth reading, what an extraordinary person. I'll pull this quote:
Stephen Jay Gould, the evolutionary biologist and science historian, said her work with chimpanzees "represents one of the Western world's great scientific achievements."
Could there be higher praise for a scientist? Here's a National Geographic profile of her:
