CDA: Gruberová, Powell, and Scolari

Edita Gruberová died at the age of 74. She was a Czech coloratura soprano who I got into in the 90s. She was marvelously indulgent. Here she is singing a Richard Strauss song that could have been written for her, "Amor," a wildly extravagant song about Cupid. Many flights above the staff, capped off with a trill on a high B near the end.



I don't think I need to explain who Colin Powell was, do I? He died at the age of 84. He had multiple myeloma and Parkinson's but finally died of COVID. Here's an interview from *60 Minutes* in 1992:




And Peter Scolari, a wonderful actor who died at the much too young age of 64. I first saw him on *Bosom Buddies,* a show I loved as a kid. Here's a collection of his appearances on Letterman:
