Fabulous Friday: The Eagles
I said last week that it was the end of my Great Song, Wrong Title theme but I'm adding a little addendum. I was trying to decide how to explain the concept and it occurred to me that might work well to explain it by explaining the opposite - - songs that have the perfect title.
The gold standard for this is The Eagles. You look at The Very Best of The Eagles and every damn song has the perfect title (I won't list them all, just the ones I love):
"Take It Easy"
"Witchy Woman"
"Peaceful Easy Feeling"
"Desperado"
"Tequila Sunrise"
"Best of My Love"
"Lyin' Eyes"
"Take It To the Limit"
"One of These Nights"
"Hotel California"
"New Kid in Town"
"Life in the Fast Lane"
"Heartache Tonight"
"The Long Run"
For me, just hearing the title puts the song in my head. That doesn't happen with the Great Song, Wrong Title songs I chose - - in those cases you have to go through the extra step of thinking of what the song SHOULD be called.
Here's my favorite of those Eagles songs, one of my favorite songs ever:
