The 1972 winner for Best Supporting actor was Joel Grey for *Cabaret* in a High Diva performance. I suppose today a man could wear false eyelashes and be a mensch but not in 1972. One of the other nominees that year was Robert Duvall in *The Godfather,* playing the consigliere, the cool-headed Mensch in a pack of hot-headed Divas.
