I'll give the mic to my brother Howard:
"I was thinking about how much I loved *Caribou* as a kid. My first glam record. Columbia Record Club album of the month and I was all in. Elton at his best IMHO, the band at its best, such a weird, celebratory album! Gender bendy space pop in tiger print and platform boots! Maybe only *Goodbye Yellow Brick Road* comes close."
Diva: "The Bitch Is Back"
Mensch: "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me"
I'll chime in with my two bits. "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me," as a power ballad, might seem too Diva to be a Mensch, but it's definitely a Mensch when placed next to "The Bitch Is Back." Plus if you imagine the song as a straight up ballad, it's really rather tender and heartbroken. Try and hear it as someone singing it quietly with just a piano. I might use the word "plaintive."
