CDA: Melanie and Charles Osgood

My brother Howard alerted me to the death of Melanie, who died last week at the age of 76. I know her from "Brand New Key" ("I got a brand new pair of roller skates / You got a brand new key") but Howard chose this song.

Here's what Howard said in his text to me: "Loved her, 'Lay It All Down' is my fave. That live version from Dutch TV is a classic, tho I prefer the original the verse harmony makes the song for me. Especially after that chorus right away intro and the drop into verse. Still chills."

Howard ended that message with a a broken heart emoji - - I can't figure out how to include that. Anyway, here's the original single with the dreamy verse harmony that Howard loves to much.

And journalist died earlier this month at the age of 91. We watched CBS Sunday Morning every Sunday when I was a kid so there was no avoiding him or his predecessor, Charles Kuralt. I loved Osgood, his wit and his charm. Here's total cutie Mo Rocca talking with Osgood about his bow ties.
