CDA: Cicely Tyson

Hello, Universe - - didn't I recently ask that we let up on the Celebrity Death Alerts? At least the last few have been people who have died at a ripe, old age. Cicely Tyson was 96. Such an extraordinary actor.

I was lucky to have seen her twice onstage. My mom and I saw her in *The Trip to Bountiful* on Broadway. She was lovely in that part, so touching and vibrant. And she was part of the Kathleen Battle's concert, *Underground Railroad: A Spiritual Journey* at the Met. Tyson did a monologue as Sojourner Truth. She was so strong and the audience went nutso for her.
