Susan, Richard, and I saw *High Button Shoes* at City Center Encores! on 5/10/19. It’s a 1947 Broadway musical with music by June Styne, lyrics by Sammy Cahn, and a book by Stephen Longstreet. The original choreographer was Jerome Robbins, and a couple of his dances were recreated in this production.

The show was worse than stupid, it was dopey. None of the songs were very good, and the actors did their best, but what lousy material. Michael Urie worked really hard in the role that was created by Phil Silvers, but was it worth the effort? My friend Tom put it perfectly: Encores! does shows that would have no chance of sustaining a full Broadway production, and this was a perfect choice because this show DEFINITELY isn’t worthy of a full revival.
