Oh my, we're getting a lot lately. I had no idea this feature of my website would get so much traffic. I always heard that Sylvia Miles had the record for the shortest amount of time onscreen for an Oscar nomination, until she was beat by Judi Dench. But then on closer inspection I see that Miles had six minutes in *Midnight Cowboy* and Dench had eight in *Shakespeare in Love.* So maybe Dench has the record for a WIN?
I first saw her in *Evil Under the Sun,* a favorite movie of my teenage years. She was married to James Mason in that movie, and as full of verve as he was full of languid. Miles was a genuine type, or as she says in this clip from *Midnight Cowboy,* "one hell of a gorgeous chick."
