Actor Anne Heche died the other day. This is the first time, I think, that I’ve done a CDA for someone who’s younger than I. She was 53.
She’s best known for her movie work, for having been Ellen DeGeneres’s partner for a few years, and for her honesty about her history with sexual abuse and mental illness. I read her memoir Call Me Crazy and was struck by its frankness.
I moved to NYC in August of 2002 (wow, 20 years ago). I had seen a number of Broadway shows on my visits to NYC over the previous years but the first one I saw after moving here was Proof starring Heche. She gave a fascinating performance, I was really impressed with her.
