Talk about a comeback - - in 2013 Valerie Harper was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer that spreads to the membranes surrounding the brain. She was given three months to live, and she just died last week! That'll show 'em!

I was fortunate enough to have seen her twice on Broadway, first in the title role of Charles Busch's *The Tale of the Allergist's Wife,* on my last visit to New York in 2001. And Richard and I saw her in her final Broadway role, as Tallulah Bankhead in *Looped.* Here's my favorite line in the show (trigger warning: it's racy!):
