Fabulous Friday: "My Funny Valentine"

There are just two songs left in our tribute to *Stardust Melodies* by Will Friedwald. Today's song is "My Funny Valentine," music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart. I usually give you two or more different recordings by different artists, but this week I'm giving you two different performances by the same artist, Chet Baker - - a performance from Turin when he was in his early 30s and another from Tokyo when he was in his late 50s (but looked much older). His singing, as a young man, was unbearably tender. The voice was more wounded in his later years, which touches me just as deeply but in a different way. And his trumpet playing, WHOA. He was amazing.
